Procedures:

  1. Prepare soybean pulp

To begin with, soak the soy beans in a water container and leave it to stand overnight (at least 3 hours). Next, add the soy beans to a large cooking pot, cook over low temperature for about two and a half hours until soft, ensuring they are constantly covered with water.

  1. Add all ingredients except breadcrumbs

After cooking, add the oil to a big skillet and heat it over medium heat. Later, add the garlic and saute for at least three minutes. Add the diced onions and cook for about five minutes, till they turn golden then add carrots, pepper, celery, and other spices. Cook for about two minutes until they become tender.

  1. Heat and Mash the soy beans

Subsequently, heat the oven to high temperatures of about 400 degrees, add oil, pour the soy beans into the heating urn and mash it well. Mix the mashed soy beans with the sauteed vegetables and millet in a big bowl. After that, peanut butter and tamari can also be added to enhance tastiness, depending on the user.

  1. Roll and Bake the patties

Finally, structure the mixture into patties and set on the cookie sheet. Bake the patties for about twenty minutes, turn them over and bake for another twenty minutes. To prevent burning, bake or fry the burgers over low heat, preferably not higher than 177C/350F. Remove the burgers from heat and place them in a large serving urn. The soy burgers are now ready for serving.

  1. Serve the Burgers

Soy burgers can be served with sauce and salad. They are ideal for breakfast, dinner, brunch and even supper.

v Use peanut oil or olive oil for frying, if frying.

v Ensure the breadcrumbs are obtained from vegan/vegetarian bread.

v Homemade soy meat tastes fine when served with vegetarian/vegan gravy.

v Since soy burgers are perishable, use them within three days of preparation. For short term storage, soy meat should be stored in a fridge or freezer.

v Most soya meat dishes take a substantial length of time to prepare, thus individuals who lose interest easily may not fit to undertake this project.

v Use mature soybeans to make soya meat dishes

In a nutshell, the process of making soy meat burger can be trouble-free when the instructions are followed correctly. For beginners, performing experiments with small portions of the ingredients can be helpful in learning the technique.
